How to take care of carbon fiber hoods and carbon parts

There are a few things you can do to help preserve the beautiful finish of your carbon fiber hood for years to come.  Carbon fiber is at great risk for oxidation and Ultra Violet light damage.  Without wax or sealant, there is very little to protect the gel coat over the carbon fabric. 

If you’re looking for a longer term solution than what a wax can provide you should try a sealant. In terms of durability something like Zaino Z2 or Menerna FMJ would work well.  Additionally you can top it off with some carnauba wax.  On our company show car we have five coats of Z2 topped with Sovereign wax.

We generally recommend using only a wax if you detail very regularly (usually every two weeks or so). The sealant is so much more durable and you can always layer a wax on top of it if desired. The Menzerna FMJ and the Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 are also very good sealants. The Jetseal 109 is probably the most durable sealant. If you want even stronger protection and a deeper reflection I would layer a wax on top of the sealant. For carbon fiber we would probably recommend either the Blue Velvet or Purple Haze. The Dodo Juice waxes have been some of the most durable waxes we have used. They help make darker colors look extra glossy!  

Here are a few frequently asked questions about our products.

	Will this hood work with all of my oem accessories? Yes! Our carbon fiber hoods are specifically designed to be show-quality products. It will take little to NO MODIFICATION to bolt up your stock accessories such as windshield washer nozzles. Most installs take roughly twenty minutes and don't require the fenders to be realigned.

	How will my hood be shipped? Your hood will be packed in two boxes, bubble wrapped and crated around the edges to prevent damage. It takes about 10 days for it to ship. The hood is then shipped out via BAX Global and it takes approximately 3-5 business days to reach you.
	When I try to checkout why does it say my credit card is declined? There are several common problems that cause your credit card to be declined. The most common source of trouble is the wrong billing address. We require that your billing address on our website match that of your credit card where you receive your statements. If this does not match, your card will be declined. These failed transactions often cause false charges on your account. These false charges will go away by themselves or you can have your bank remove the first duplicate charges. Another common error is you are trying to buy over the limit of the debit/credit card. You can call your bank to have them raise your limit temporarily. Finally, there may not be enough money in your account although we've found this is rarely the problem with a decline carbon hood order.
